FIRST NEWPORT BEACH FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Newport Beach,CA(Perfect Meal Today)9/14/14/–It seems incredible that a city as affluent as Newport Beach is only having its first Food & Wine Festival this upcoming weekend, but that is in fact the case. Judging by the line up they will be off to a big splash and PMT will be there to check it out. It all kicks off Friday night (Sep 19th) with a big bash held at RED O Newport Beach from 6.30 pm to 11.0 pm.
The event will be fronted by celebrity chef Rick Bayless who will be hosting a cocktail reception along with specialty drinks and hors d’oeuvres. There is a live and silent auction with a bunch of goodies on offer including private dinners and an overnight stay at the Montage in Laguna Beach. A three course sit down dinner will precede the auction.
The action picks up Saturday and Sunday at the Newport Beach Civic Center from 11 a.m to 5 p.m where there will be cooking classes, sommelier panels, mixology courses, book signings and
live music. Chefs on show include Richard Blais, Rick Moonen, Shirley Chung, Sue Zemanick and Jaimie Gwen.
What looks exciting is the Grand Tasting Pavilion which runs from 12 p.m to 3 p.m. both days where gourmet food and wines are served by more celebrity chefs from the Montage, Tamarind of London and more along with high quality wines. Premier wine tastings from over 40 wineries take place at the Wine Promenade and spirit lovers
Will be taken care of by the likes of Duke Spirits and Roca Patron Tequila.
Beer is also on tap at the Stella Artois tent. If the is not enough then there is an Anaheim Ducks VIP Bar and numerous tasting booths.
The wine panel will be led by John Kleinhans of Wine Elite and will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday and 11.30 a.m. on Sunday and will feature Master Sommelier Michael Jordan. Mixology courses will take place near the end of the day with Duke Spirits on Saturday and Roca Patron on Sunday.
The Grand Finale Party will be held at Sherman Library & Gardens from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm where Even more cocktails, wines and gourmet foods will be served if you have any room left.
