STILLHOUSE MOONSHINE WHISKY ENTERS THE CROWDED FIELD THROWS BIG LAUNCH AT TRENDY PEARL RESTAURANT IN HOLLYWOOD

HOLLYWOOD(Perfect Meal Today)12/6/14/–It seems to me that every week a new Moonshine hits the market, and the latest to make a big push is STILLHOUSE which is based in Culpepper in Virginia. However their head office and marketing is based in Los Angeles so it was natural for them to throw a big bash recently at the trendy Pearl restaurant on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood.

Owner Brad Beckerman was on hand to explain the pairings of the cocktails with the food and to introduce the four new flavors to the portfolio: Red Hot, Peach Tea, Apple Crisp and Coconut. I can tell you right now that the HOLLYWOOD TIMES favorite is the coconut, and the Moonshine does not come in the traditional Mason Jar as expected, but in a patented glass jug.

Stillhouse uses 100% estate grown corn ion a recipe distilled five times and charcoal filtered. Even though the Stillhouse Original Moonshine is 80 proof, the new and Infused flavors are only 40 proof. The retail price for the new spirits is $24.99 for a 750l jug and it is currently available in at least thirteen states at this time.

This is a brand new company formed in 2012 but they have already won a brace of gold medals at the San Francisco International Spirits Competition.

Here are some food pairings that will work with some of the Stillhouse Moonshine. Kale and Quinoa Salad with pickled beets will go well with the a combination of original and peach tree moonshine, and smoked pepperoni flatbread and a crab cake also pairs perfectly with the original version. Now my choice, the coconut moonshine teams up with either grilled salmon, lamb shoulder or roasted chicken breast, which incidentally were cooked to perfection at the Pearl, which is developing into quite a hang out in the crowded Hollywood scene.

The Shiner-

1 ½ oz Original Moonshine and twist of lime

Bruise it and pour over fresh ice and top it w/twist of lime

Autumn Moonlight-

1 oz Peach Tree Stillhouse Moonshine

¾ oz fresh lemon

3/ oz simple syrup

1 oz Stillhouse Original Moonshine

5 dashes of peach bitters

2 oz Club Soda

Build cocktail in a Collins glass and watch out
