West Hollywood (Perfect Meal Today) 9/16/18/–The hip and trendy SUR in West Hollywood has launched a new weekend brunch menu and it would be hard to find a more fun place to hang out after a long hard week. The area itself has always been along with Beverly Hills the place to visit in Los Angeles so I am embarrassed to admit that this was my first visit to Sur.A media luncheon was attended by some of the top food writers in town and chef Joe Martinez has created a menu that can loosely be described as in international menu.. The place has been a long time favorite of celebrities as they visit after shopping on Robertson for the latest in bathroom accessories and no doubt they will like the new brunch menu. The restaurant has been featured on the Bravo reality show the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and husband and wife team of Guillermo and Natalie Zapata are a perfect match to run this bustling hot spot.

The brunch was held in the relaxing and beautiful outdoor lounge Area, and how could it get better with the music playing, the drinks flowing and the attractive and energetic servers floating about to take care of your every whim. Make no bones about it, this was a demanding group who have seen the best, but despite a few minor mix ups with the food everything went smoothly. I should also point out portions here are very generous so do not over order as I notice that some of the plates that went back to the kitchen were barely touched, more an issue of over ordering than food quality.

I chose an appetizer of shrimp with couscous and was quite surprised when the couscous showed up in a cold version, but it did go well with the perfectly cooked shrimp, The main course of pan roasted Salmon is always a good bet on a hot summers day, and Marinez Got this version right with a perfect crust and a succulent and juicy fish on the inside.

Other items on the brunch menu include Frittata and Vegetable Omelets, Linguini Primavera, Blue Cheeseburger and Vegan Burger, Italian Chicken Milanese and Crispy French Toast. That last one looked particularly good on someone else’s plate, so maybe next time for that one. Of course to go along with the festive atmosphere of brunch you have to have some drinks and all the usual suspects are available like Mimosa’s, Parisian Pear Martini, Bloody Mary and the Homemade White Sangria.
