A panoramic ground floor view of Hyde Park on the raised floor of\u00a0The restaurant gives this place a special feel at lunchtime which can last up to four hours if\u00a0you have the stamina before trundling off to Harrods for some late afternoon splurging.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-24.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1073\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-24.jpeg\" alt=\"imgres-24\" width=\"284\" height=\"178\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 2 star Michelin Restaurant shares the hotel dining scene with suitably heavy company\u00a0with the Daniel Boulud spot, which I have been told is one of the best cocktail bars in town\u00a0as well as being obviously a showcase for French food in London.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-34.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1074\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-34.jpeg\" alt=\"imgres-34\" width=\"280\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the meticulous menu preparation, HB has been ably assisted by his executive chef Ashley\u00a0Palmer-Watts and a food historian. The open style kitchen is a haven of activity with at least\u00a0twenty chefs working feverishly, and if you can stand the excitement, book the chef\u2019s\u00a0table within the space. The chefs have become experts at the old English style of \u201cSpit<\/p>\n<p>Roasting\u2019 which dates back to the times of Henry V111, and Blumenthal is likely to be the\u00a0only modern day chef to have had access to the world famous Royal Kitchens at Hampton\u00a0Court.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-35.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1075\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-35.jpeg\" alt=\"imgres-35\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For first course the only way to go is the Meat Fruit ($26), a tasty morsel dating back to about 1500\u00a0which is pretty much the signature dish of the restaurant. It is simply chicken liver parfait\u00a0shaped and colored like a Mandarin served with grilled bread, and technically a masterpiece.<\/p>\n<p>Also tried Ragoo of Pigs Ears on Toast from 1750 served with Anchovy, onions &amp; parsley\u00a0All this was served with a 2006 Moet &amp; Chandon champagne that was just too good.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-36.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1076\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-36.jpeg\" alt=\"imgres-36\" width=\"260\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Pork Belly from the year 1820 is brined for 24 hours prior to cooking and comes with\u00a0Hispi cabbage, onion &amp; Robert sauce. This was one of the specials that day in the three\u00a0course set lunch menu ($57), but a glance at the regular main courses makes exciting\u00a0reading. You have for example Powdered Duck Breast ($54) which is sourced from a\u00a0cook book in 1670 by author Hannah Woolley, and this is served with Smoked confit fennel, smoked beetroot &amp; umbles. Also intriguing is the Chicken cooked with Lettuces from 1670 ($51) with a grilled onion emulsion, spiced celeriac sauce &amp; oyster leaves. This is also from the same\u00a0cookbook that is strangely called \u201cThe Queen Like Closet or Rich Cabinet\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-38.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1077\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-38.jpeg\" alt=\"imgres-38\" width=\"299\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are in the mood for a steak then the Hereford Ribeye from 1830 ($57) is a must\u00a0partly because it is served with Blumenthal\u2019s famous Triple cooked chips and a home\u00a0made mushroom ketchup. All the cuts of beef here are dry aged for 21 days at the\u00a0least and cooked over wood and charcoal embers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-39.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1078\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/imgres-39.jpeg\" alt=\"imgres-39\" width=\"279\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes there was still some room for dessert and I was eagerly led into the direction of\u00a0the famous Tipsy Cake from 1810 ($22). Loosely described it is a freshly baked brioche\u00a0sweet wine, custard and raw brandy and served with spit roast pineapple.
