Steve Vernetti is the larger than life\u00a0hands on chef who loves cooking, and his hard working team in the kitchen seemed to\u00a0reflect his passion about the food. Major efforts have been made to bring some little\u00a0known Italian wines to the menu for a crowd that seems to be a lot more knowledgeable\u00a0than the average punter.<\/p>\n<p>Like most chefs Vernetti has had a varied career growing up on a ranch in Nevada, and\u00a0also spending his formative cooking years working in a variety of restaurants in London\u00a0for six years. That priceless knowledge he picked up there has served him well at his\u00a0own place, and the local diners are the ones to benefit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1204\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1204\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles.jpeg\" alt=\"vernetti-los-angeles\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The restaurant holds about 44 inside and about twenty on the outside patio, and with the\u00a0one year anniversary coming up soon business is looking up considerably. This was the\u00a0former spot of\u00a0<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Girasole <\/span> , a much loved local eatery in the area for twenty years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-2.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1205\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1205\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-2.jpeg\" alt=\"vernetti-los-angeles-2\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-2.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-2-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I tried a few appetizers and remember quite fondly the Sage Gnocchi with fresh spinach\u00a0and house ricotta ($17). Also of note is the Fresh buratta salad with heirloom tomatoes,\u00a0basil, olive oil, and a reduced balsamic ($16) that you will most likely need to share.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the dishes I also tried that deserve to be examined and consumed on your\u00a0visit to the restaurant. The Ciopinni ($26) is a zesty fisherman\u2019s stew generously adorned\u00a0with bay scallops, manila clams and octopus all in a rich dinapoli broth. I would also go for\u00a0the Spaghetti con limone grigliato ($14) with grilled meyer lemon (a particular favorite of the chef),\u00a0celery leaves, parsley and a delicious calabrian chili.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-3.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1206\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1206\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-3.jpeg\" alt=\"vernetti-los-angeles-3\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-3.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-3-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Octopus is a real specialty of the chef, and his version is cooked with the help of a wine cork,\u00a0and is served with creamy white beans, fennel and a cabbage slaw ($24). Flagship wine is the\u00a0Emidio Pepe Trebbiano d\u2019Abruzzo 2010 along with the Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d\u2019Abruzzo 2007.\u00a0<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">These wines have been in production for almost 50 years in the hills of Torano.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-4.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1208\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1208\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-4.jpeg\" alt=\"vernetti-los-angeles-4\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-4.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/vernetti-los-angeles-4-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since the Vernetti family are from Calabria, one of the chef\u2019s favorite wines is the Pecorello\u00a0Ippolito 2014 and one of the best wines I tried.
