He has the benefit\u00a0of a robust Farmers market just round the corner from the hotel, and his cooking\u00a0can loosely be described as very colorful and full of flavor. The presentation is\u00a0excellent and he works closely with the new food and beverage director to pair the\u00a0food with exciting cocktail combinations like the cucumber and basil martini served with\u00a0Grey Goose, lemon and lime juice and of course the obligatory St.Germain elderberry.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_172\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-172\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4214-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-172\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4214-1-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"Kareem Shaw &amp; Mr. Hepworth\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4214-1-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4214-1.jpg 464w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kareem Shaw &amp; Mr. Hepworth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kareem started out as a dishwasher 15 years and looks like having a bright future in the\u00a0local culinary scene. Born in Pasadena, he majored in culinary arts at North Michigan\u00a0University. His first executive chef gig started at the \u201cNew York Deli\u201d in Michigan which\u00a0won numerous awards for its soups and pasta. Moving on to the \u201cWild Rover\u201d in\u00a0Wisconsin where he became a local TV chef personality, cooking one day for President.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4213.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-171\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4213-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4213\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4213-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4213.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On his return to California he was Chef de Cuisine at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena and\u00a0Executive Chef at Frame 128. He has brought his own team into the kitchen and here are\u00a0Just some of the delights you can probably expect on a visit to The Dining Room at the \u00a0Iconic Shangri-la. The Butter nut squash ravioli ($12) is a good way to start the meal\u00a0and this succulent goodie is served with pecans and parmesan and with a touch of sage.<\/p>\n<p>Also the Beet Salad ($13) comes in stack form and when served with heirloom tomatoes\u00a0and drenched in a balsamic reduction, I guarantee that this dish does not stay very long on\u00a0the plate.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh oysters are $18 for the half dozen and are served with scallions, shallots, chives,\u00a0cayenne pepper sauce, jalapeno aioli and lemons and of the course the perfect pairing\u00a0for this dish is a crisp New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. If here is a few of you, then a dozen\u00a0oysters will be $29. Next up the chef came up with a nice chilled sorbet for the palate,\u00a0a common occurrence in Europe but not so common regrettably in California.<\/p>\n<p>Main course for me was an unforgettable Chilean Sea Bass ($34), light to the touch\u00a0and served with some of my favorite vegetables, turnips, beets and carrots and\u00a0adorned with a superb mango glaze. My guest had the Filet Mignon ($36) and was\u00a0raving about it the next day and chef Kareem\u2019s version is served with mashed potatoes,\u00a0spinach, wild mushrooms and a potent cognac cream sauce.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4210.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-174\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4210-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4210\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4210-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_4210.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other main courses on the overtly conservative menu include Kurobuta Pork Chops ($32),\u00a0Wild Atlantic King Salmon ($30) and New York Steak ($29.
