Las Vegas (Perfect Meal Today)5\/24\/17\/–After checking out Zuma in London just over a year go I was extremely\u00a0excited to learn about the recent opening at the Cosmopolitan Hotel\u00a0in Las Vegas and to see how it compared. Well the report cards are in\u00a0about the 11th<\/sup> Zuma worldwide, and as expected a degree of excellence\u00a0can be found in a restaurant which is like being in a live theatre show that\u00a0happens to serve outstanding food served izakaya style.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere is outstanding and the curated music of funk, disco\u00a0and dance rhythms is loud and nonstop but not overwhelming due to\u00a0the acoustics helped by a low ceiling. Service is brisk and well co-ordinated\u00a0from the young sharply dressed waiters, and what on the surface seems\u00a0disorganized is in fact a tight and well rehearsed operation. The food is high\u00a0end Japanese-fusion style and there are so many signature items on the menu,\u00a0we can only highlight just a few.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The large 9,000 square foot space was designed by Noriyoshi Muramatsu\u00a0from Tokyo. He has created a design that incorporates the four natural\u00a0elements-earth, fire, water and air along with plenty of wood rusted\u00a0iron, stone and glass. There is also a feature wall composed of\u00a0natural stone from Chiang Mai, Thailand, and the reception desk,\u00a0bar and sushi counter are all made of grand tree trunks from Thailand.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally the patchwork wall in the main lounge is created from\u00a0highly colored Japanese paper.\u00a0Zuma was created by German chef Rainer Becker, and this is the third\u00a0American operation following success in New York and Miami, and\u00a0surely it is only a matter of time for more to follow. From the main\u00a0kitchen you might want to try the signature dish of \u2018suzuki no sashimi,\u2019\u00a0an insanely fresh dish of sea bass sashimi with yuzu, truffle and salmon\u00a0roe. The Tempura is wonderful here as is the \u2018tori no tebasaki\u2019 which is\u00a0sake glazed chicken wings with sea salt and lime.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All the sushi is\u00a0some of the best you will ever try such as the \u2018dynamite spider roll\u00a0with crab and chili or the \u2018spicy yellowtail roll\u2019 with yellowtail, Serrano\u00a0pepper avocado and wasabi mayo.\u00a0The cocktail program and wine selection is particularly impressive at\u00a0Zuma highlighted by the cocktail known as the \u2018Zuma Zacapa Live\u00a0Solera,\u2019 one of only 11 restaurants in the world to serve it. Other highlights\u00a0include the \u2018rubabu,\u2019 a rhubarb infused sake w\/vodka, passion fruit and\u00a0lemon. The \u2018geisha smash\u2019 is a blend of Ketel One, shiso leaves, cucumber,\u00a0elderflower and yuzu, and the \u2018yuzu paloma\u2019 has tequila blanco, yuzu\u00a0Campari ; soda and green tea salt.\u00a0Other Zuma\u2019s are located in Hong Kong, Dubai, Istanbul, Miami,\u00a0Bangkok, Datca, Abu Dhabi, New York and Rome and all the chefs are\u00a0trained in London before taking on their global posts. The choices of where\u00a0to eat at the Cosmopolitan are vast and in Las Vegas, staggering. You\u00a0will not go far wrong if you make Zuma one of your top choices.<\/p>\n
