Portions here by the way are generally large all round, and the well oiled service comes from waiters and servers who have been at Taix a long time like the 35 years our waiter had put in.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/thumb_600.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1732\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/thumb_600-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/thumb_600-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/thumb_600-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/thumb_600.jpg 590w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Taix family (pronounced Tex) currently running the large restaurant are the third and fourth generations of a family of sheepherders and bakers who were early immigrants to Los Angeles way back in 1870. In 1912, Marcus Taix built a hotel downtown called Champ d\u2019Or in the French quarter, and in 1927 he opened the restaurant serving chicken dinners for 50cts, although if you wanted private booth service you had to cough up a whopping 75cts. I started out with the Pate which came with baby gherkins, tiny white onions and was an ideal start to the meal here. Of course we had to go for the French Onion Soup and found the size of the dish just right and the balance between the soup and the cheese just right.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/7919047260_c592b6cbaf.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1733\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/7919047260_c592b6cbaf-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/7919047260_c592b6cbaf-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/7919047260_c592b6cbaf.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For a main course I tried the \u201cLamb Navarin\u201d or Lamb Shank If you prefer, and was able to substitute the mashed potatoes for rice. Nice and tender off the bone I would try this again when I am in the need for a good and hearty feast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/GetImage.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1734\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/GetImage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/GetImage.jpg 220w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/GetImage-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The restaurant has also just announced the return of the much loved \u2018Frog Legs\u2019 to the menu or to be more specific \u201cCuisses de Grenouille.\u201dThey have only been off the menu for four months, but after many requests from distraught customers, they are back. According to owner\/operator Michael Taix, the correct size legs have been unavailable from the suppliers. As Michael Taix explained,\u201d we prefer the smaller legs because they are more delicate and tender, and we\u2019re thrilled to be able to offer this French country dish once again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/17975844.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1735\" src=\"http:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/17975844-146x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"146\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/17975844-146x300.jpg 146w, https:\/\/perfectmealtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/17975844.jpg 233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 146px) 100vw, 146px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This famous dish comes from Dombes in South Eastern France, and now a lot of the regulars will be making their way back to the restaurant.
