HOLLYWOOD(Perfect Meal Today)12\/6\/14\/–It seems to me that every week a new Moonshine hits the market, and the\u00a0latest to make a big push is STILLHOUSE which is based in Culpepper in\u00a0Virginia. However their head office and marketing is based in Los Angeles\u00a0so it was natural for them to throw a big bash recently at the trendy\u00a0Pearl restaurant on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

Owner Brad Beckerman was on hand to explain the pairings of the cocktails\u00a0with the food and to introduce the four new flavors to the portfolio: Red Hot,\u00a0Peach Tea, Apple Crisp and Coconut. I can tell you right now that the HOLLYWOOD TIMES\u00a0favorite is the coconut, and the Moonshine does not come in the traditional Mason Jar\u00a0as expected, but in a patented glass jug.<\/p>\n

Stillhouse uses 100% estate grown corn ion a recipe distilled five times and charcoal\u00a0filtered. Even though the Stillhouse Original Moonshine is 80 proof, the new and\u00a0Infused flavors are only 40 proof. The retail price for the new spirits is $24.99 for a\u00a0750l jug and it is currently available in at least thirteen states at this time.<\/p>\n

This is a\u00a0brand new company formed in 2012 but they have already won a brace of gold\u00a0medals at the San Francisco International Spirits Competition.<\/p>\n

Here are some food pairings that will work with some of the Stillhouse Moonshine.\u00a0Kale and Quinoa Salad with pickled beets will go well with the a combination of original\u00a0and peach tree moonshine, and smoked pepperoni flatbread and a crab cake also\u00a0pairs perfectly with the original version. Now my choice, the coconut moonshine\u00a0teams up with either grilled salmon, lamb shoulder or roasted chicken breast, which\u00a0incidentally were cooked to perfection at the Pearl, which is developing into quite a\u00a0hang out in the crowded Hollywood scene.<\/p>\n
