Boerne,Texas (Perfect Meal Today) 3\/3\/5\/19—If you can\u2019t quite decide whether you want to enjoy just a glass of great wine in the cozy ambiance of a wine cellar, or have only a delectable dessert and coffee, or pull out all the stops for a special dinner; you came to the right place because Cypress Grille has it all.<\/p>\n

This Contemporary American Cuisine restaurant uses the freshest herbs collected from their own herb garden and the meat is locally sourced. All pasta is handmade and rolled. Owner\/ Sommelier Paul Thompson and General Manager Roland Villagran ensure that the sushi-grade fish is delivered to Executive Chef Kevin Babbit within 24 hours of being caught off of the coast of Hawaii.<\/p>\n

The evening my companion (longtime resident of Boerne) Cherry Schroeder and I were at Cypress Grille, the Soup of the Day was Black Eyed Pea Soup.<\/p>\n

The surprising, fun, and crunch-satisfying addition of the Cornbread Croutons put this soup over the top, making it very memorable. The entre, Seafood Pozole was a delicious twist on standard pozole. From the House Standards Menu, Cherry chose the Crispy Eggplant \u2013 I couldn\u2019t resist sneaking a bite that proved to be equally delicious.<\/p>\n

We enjoyed this restaurant, their staff, and especially the menu items so much that we went back the next day. Our only regret was that it was a Sunday and we arrived just as the restaurant was closing (around 2:00 p.m.). No worries, we will visit again on my next visit to Boerne. Can\u2019t wait!<\/p>\n

THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN BOERNE:<\/p>\n

The National Museum of the Pacific War is a great museum for history buffs, specifically for World War II. \u00a0The Nimitz Hotel houses Fredericksburg native Admiral Chester Nimitz\u2019s memorabilia. Tickets are honored for 48 hours to allow visitors to visit the extensive museum for two days. The George H. W. Bush Gallery is an interactive experience with many things to see, touch, read, and hear.\u00a0\u00a0 WWII Veterans: Free, Adults: $15, Seniors $12, Children $6.<\/p>\n

The Pioneer Museum is a destination for the Texas Hill Country Passport program. \u00a0Visitors can view an amazing display of historic artifacts and buildings. Furniture and everyday artifacts are beautifully refurbished. All guides\/narrators are\/were residents, or descendants of residents, of the respective buildings. The visitors are given insight to the lives, loves and struggles of the German immigrants who founded Fredericksburg. A great tour for adults and children. $5 (estimated touring time: 1 hour).<\/p>\n

The Nimitz State Historical Park is an exploration of military history. A recently erected statue of the Commander in Chief of United States Pacific Naval Fleet, Admiral Chester Nimitz is a crowd pleaser. Admiral Nimitz played a major historical part in Naval history during World War II, specifically in the Pacific War. Two years after the bombing in Pearl Harbor the Pacific War culminated in the defeat of the Japanese at Guadalcanal in 1943. Recognition and honor is given to the fallen soldiers and others who served during the Pacific War.<\/p>\n
