LONG BEACH TO HOST FIRST EVER HOT SAUCE EXPO
Long Beach,CA(Perfect Meal Today)6/12/15/–Is this an idea that is likely to take off? Give the public fascination with hot sauces and all things hot, you may want to head down to Long Beach on July 11th and 12th for the first ever California Hot Sauce Expo 2015, to be held at Rainbow Lagoon that weekend.
High River Sauces will be bringing 45 hot sauce companies from around the states and here is an Idea of the kinds of activities you can expect at this rather fascinating sounding event.
Some of the names of the hot sauce companies make pretty exciting reading. They have such outfits as Ghost Cream Hot Sauce (San Clemente), Hot Licks (Long Beach), Race City Sauce Works (Charlotte, NC), Volcanic Peppers (Bellevue) and 9 Circle of Hell Small Batch Chile Powder (San Jose).
They are also planning contests involving Chicken Wing Eating, Amateur Guacamole and Salsa making and something called A Cup-O-Noodles Challenge.
The Guinness Book of Records will be judging the spicy eating contest; Pucker Butt Pepper Company have “The Smokin’ Ed’s Carolina Reaper Eating Challenge”; Stoli Vodka sponsors the “Bloody Mary Mix Down” featuring top area mixologists as well as “The California Margarita Mix-Down Championship.”
The Carolina Reaper is the world’s hottest pepper that delivers an average of 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Just as a simple comparison, Jalapeno Peppers only have a meager rating of 2,500-8,000.
Talking of Smoking Ed’s Reaper Challenge, the competition is expected to get very Intense with competitors from all over the world going for the title, including the fearless Trinidad Scorpion Butch T who will be seeking to make amends and regain the coveted title.
General admission is only $10 (day of event tickets $15) and the Craft Brew package is $50. The $50 ticket includes admission, six drink tokens, a bottle of High River Sauces, and a Hot Sauce Expo T-Shirt. For those that can ante-up the $100 they have an exclusive VIP area to cool down with complimentary cocktail tastings, food pairings, craft beers.
Also thrown in is a commemorative poster, subscription to Chili Pepper Magazine and a gift bag.
